Ready to soak up some sun and ride the waves? Beach trips are everyone’s favorite, but let’s be real—they can turn into a total bummer if you’re not prepped for the adventure ahead. So, before you grab your shades and hit the sand, let’s dive into the must-have items that’ll keep your trip smooth sailing.
Save this for your next beach trip.
Quick-dry towel: A quick dry towel is the first must-have to pack, and not the regular one. It would help to buy a quick-dry towel that not only dries quickly, but also gets rid of all of the sand. These towels are designed to be sand-free and can be shaken to remove sand. They are often made from polyester or have a tight cotton weave that repels sand.
Beach First Aid: Jellyfish stings are actually more common than you think, especially on Thailand and Goa beaches. So keep vinegar and cotton to treat the stings. Also pack some bandages, wipes, pain relievers, insect repellents, etc. Insect repellent is a must if you’re going to the beach during the night or if you’re going camping on the beach.
For swimming:
Snorkeling Gear: If you love to jump in the water as soon as you spot it much as we do, you know every little snorkeling essential goes a long way. Carry goggles/mask and snorkel, or boogie board if you want some water fun. A simple rash guard or swimming shorts in addition would also work individually.
Waterproof Pouch: So that you can waterproof everything you own. Want underwater videos under a budget? Go buy yourself a good-quality waterproof phone pouch. Want to listen to music on the beach on your bluetooth speaker without it blasting water instead of music? Buy a waterproof pouch for it. Want to enjoy your snacks? Put them in sealed, waterproof pouches or sealed boxes/bags.
Sun:
SPF 50: There’s no sun basking without sunscreen. So make sure to carry an SPF 50 if you plan to spend time directly under the sun. It should be reapplied every 4 hours that you’re in the sun. Added benefit of other minerals like niacinamide in your sunscreen is always great. Someone once said, “A great beach trip should give you memories, not sunburns & skin cancer.”
Umbrella: You forgot about it, didn’t you? But, an umbrella might be the most important item to take to your beach trip, protecting you from the sun. Just perch the umbrella on an elevated surface beside you and anchor it with something solid so that it covers you.
Recreational/additional/not-so-essential things:
- A good book goes a long way to keep you occupied while basking in the sun.
- An ice chest for water, drinks, snacks etc.
- A portable speaker.
Now, you can focus on relaxing, soaking and making unforgettable memories by the sea. With these essentials packed, you’re all set to kick back, relax, and make unforgettable memories by the sea. Whether you’re dodging jellyfish, jamming to your favorite tunes, or just lounging with a good book, being prepared means you can focus on the fun instead of the “uh-oh” moments.
