Christine McGuinness Reveals She’s Dated Women Since Her Teens & Opens Up About Divorce from Paddy

A Journey of Self-Discovery

Television personality Christine McGuinness has spoken openly about her personal evolution, touching on her sexuality, her split from comedian Paddy McGuinness, and the emotional shifts that followed.

Sexuality Was Never a Secret

Speaking on Elizabeth Day’s How To Fail podcast, Christine, 37, revealed that she has dated both men and women since her teenage years. She explained that her family and former husband were always aware of her sexuality, and it was never something she felt the need to hide.

“I’ve always been a free spirit,” she shared. “I was never drawn to someone based on gender, but rather the person they are.”

Past Relationships and Emotional Connections

Before meeting Paddy, Christine had been in romantic relationships with women, including one lasting two years. She reflected on those experiences fondly, stating that while some were undefined, the emotional connection was always genuine.

“I’ve had long situationships where we didn’t label it,” she said. “But they were meaningful, and I’ve only ever looked for that authentic bond.”

Co-Parenting and Shared Living Post-Divorce

Despite their separation in 2022 after 11 years of marriage, Christine and Paddy have continued to cohabit for the benefit of their three children—twins Leo and Penelope, and daughter Felicity, all of whom are on the autism spectrum.

They live in separate areas of the same home and maintain mutual respect. Christine noted, “We know we can date, but we don’t overshare out of respect for our shared space and history.”

Dating for Herself, Not for Family Structure

Christine made it clear that her focus now is on finding a partner who aligns with her emotionally—not someone to step into a parental role.

“I’m not looking for someone to be a step-parent,” she explained. “I want someone for me—someone I can laugh with, talk to, and share life with on a deeper level.”

Christine’s Exit from Celebs Go Dating

The model and reality star had joined the E4 show Celebs Go Dating with the intention of exploring romance publicly. However, she made the decision to leave the series early.

While filming in Ibiza, Christine had started forming connections and even opened up more about her attraction to women. But she ultimately felt uncomfortable exposing her personal life so soon after her divorce.

“I joined with the best intentions, but the attention was too much,” she shared in a social media post. “The team was supportive, and I’m thankful they’ve left the door open if I choose to return.”

Looking Ahead with Optimism

Christine’s honesty has sparked positive conversations around sexuality, self-discovery, and life after divorce. As she focuses on her children and healing, she remains open to future possibilities, both personally and professionally.

“I want a relationship where I can just be myself,” she said. “And I’m learning to put my own happiness first.”
