This Halloween, Agatha Harkness returns.
Ever since her antagonist character in WandaVision was a smashing success, Kathryn Hahn has been gaining recognition in the MCU fandom as Agatha Harkness. Agatha Harkness, the powerful, witchy villain from WandaVision, returns with her own story in this mini-series by Marvel, called, “Agatha All Along.”
Why Fans Love Agatha
After watching that finale of WandaVision, we couldn’t thank Agatha Harkness enough for giving us the most entertaining, but powerful, villain in all of MCU. Her sense of humor mixed with her approach to villainy were really fun to watch.
For those who enjoyed Agatha’s presence in WandaVision, you’ll love Agatha in her own series. Because we know we will. We live for anti-heroes with a past…but also with morals.
The Teaser Trailer
The teaser trailer of the Marvel Mini-series dropped on 9th July and has since made quite a splash in the MCU fandom.
The trailer starts off with Kathryn Hahn as Agatha… but wait—isn’t Agatha supposed to be trapped at WestView right now? After Wanda, in the finale of WandaVision, trapped Agatha in WestView, she left Agnes, Agatha’s alter ego alone. Agnes is very flirty, nice, and less crazy and evil than Agatha.
So, as we were saying, the trailer opens with Agnes investigating what seems to be Wanda’s body when she starts to remember some of what happened while she was Agatha. After she realizes and breaks out of the curse, she teams up with fellow detective and green witch Rio Vidal played by Aubrey Plaza, who is seemingly only there to help Agatha break her curse? Or is there a deeper betrayal involved with her character?
Agatha’s New Mission
And now, Agatha is on a mission with her desperate coven of witches, to get her powers back by traipsing through the legendary ‘Witch’s Road,’ which rewards a witch with what they want if they reach the end of it. But, of course, Marvel wouldn’t make the plot of a mini-series that simple, would it? No, because passing the Witch’s Road is going to be a magical gauntlet of trials.
Oof, sounds like we’re in for a lot of spell-casting and potions, references to the Wizard of Oz, and maybe even some much needed character development for Agatha.
Agatha Harkness’ Coven of Chaos:
Agatha’s coven of witches include Joe Locke as a teenage Billy Kaplan/Wiccan, Agatha’s mysterious and gothic companion who helped her break free of her curse. Then we have Sasheer Zamata as Jennifer Kale, a sorceress introduced in the 1972 comic. Famous broadway star, Patti LuPone stars as Lilia Calderu who can see the future and read tarot cards. And lastly, Debra Jo Rupp stars as mysterious Mrs Hart.
Ali Ahn joins the coven as Ali Woo, a punky, cool witch. Among other cast members are Maria Dizzia, Paul Adelstein, Miles Gutierrez-Riley, and Okwui Okpokwasili playing supporting/antagonist characters.
From playing the ouija board while dressed up as 80s middle schoolers to riding broomsticks, in very real witch fashion, to a coven of witches seeking revenge, Agatha will be having an interesting journey through the Witch Road.
Release Date and Streaming
And we will be on this journey with Agatha and her coven of witches too. Which just means we’ll be on our sofas, eating popcorn while watching the first two episodes of the mini-series when they release on September 18th only on Disney Plus.
