Fashion Guide 2024: From the Set of “It Ends with Us”

First it was the fashion choices, and then it was the age difference. 

Colleen Hoover’s infamous, acclaimed novel, “It Ends With Us,” has always incited mixed thoughts about it, which is exactly how the news of the movie adaptation was received by the readers of the book, with mixed thoughts.

The novel follows new college graduate Lily Bloom who meets neurosurgeon Ryle Kincaid (played by Justin Baldoni, 39) and starts a complicated (to say the least) relationship with him. Her first love, Atlas Corrigan (Brandon Sklenar), reappears in her life, and everything becomes complicated still. 

Blake Lively’s Wardrobe Controversy

Blake Lively, playing Lily Bloom, had been receiving a lot of criticism when pictures from the set came out and much was said about her kooky wardrobe. She received a ton of hate from social media, readers of the book going as far as saying that they would boycott the movie. 

A Blake Lively stan tweeted regarding the interesting fashion choices: 

“How do you make Blake Lively, known hot person, look FRUMPY?” 

And that’s what the makers of the movie managed to do.

On the occasion of the movie’s press tour, let’s visit and compare the fashion choices of the actors and the characters. Keep in mind, though, because there’s going to be a lot of patchwork involved.

And that’s not all, from the readers’ side. First it was the fashion choices, and then it was the age difference between book Lily and movie Lily. 

Yes, the characters’ ages, with Lily meant to be 23 when the book begins, have also sparked backlash from dedicated fans. Fans have mentioned that Blake Lively, 36, is too old to play the role.

Can Blake Lively Save the Project?

But, despite the terrible fashion crime she’ll be committing throughout the movie, we have a feeling that Blake Lively, with her incredible acting skills, will manage to save the project. Or…let’s all pray that it happens.
